On first impressions, things seemed to be looking up for Sears this time. The store had picked up some new holiday decor -- some hideous red artificial trees, perhaps rejects from the White House 🙃 -- and the old Land's End department had finally been repainted from dark blue to dark grey, in true 2020s fashion. On the other hand, there was hardly any holiday-specific promotional signage to be found, with the main entrance flanked by one of the old red gradient signs on the left and a newer generic design on the right. Also of note, the mannequin at the entrance was wearing a hoodie and matching pants, and standing on a treadmill (with a large sign on it saying something about "safety first")... not exactly typical department store fare.
