Mini-meats

While I praised Modern earlier for working well in vintage stores, it really struggles with the back wall of Marina stores. Admittedly, most decor packages I've seen handle this poorly, but the tiny grey rectangle around the "meats" sign looks comically bad! Meanwhile, the flooring back here is more on the tragically bad end of the spectrum.

I wonder what Safeway (or Haggen?) was thinking with that concrete floor! I've seen worse in-person and in photos of other supermarkets, including some Safeways (Colorado and neighboring state ones seem especially bad), but this one is pretty awful.

I wonder how many $170 patio furniture sets Safeway sells like that!

    1. It was Safeway -- the few pictures I can find from the Haggen era clearly show the ancient vinyl floor -- but regardless, yeah, it's bad! I don't know what they were thinking, since Safeway doesn't put concrete floors in old stores very often (outside of the Mountain Division, which has a lot of stores that look terrible in more ways than just that). I think the worst floors I've seen have been in Krogers though (mostly Fred Meyer, but if they ever get around to remodeling more QFCs we'll probably start seeing it there too), since they have a lot of seriously old stores around here and apparently no standards when it comes to concrete floors!

Summer patio furniture has been a long tradition for Safeway, for reasons I don't really understand. It dates back to well before the Albertsons merger, which introduced a lot more weird general merchandise stuff to Safeway!
