And to wrap this up, here's another wet picture of the exterior. Somehow, this is one of the last local Safeway series I have left in my backlog -- there hasn't been all that much of interest happening locally lately, and I've already visited (and posted) pretty much all of the places that are actually interesting! I was surprised to find that out when I went looking for a local Safeway for this set -- it used to feel like I had an infinite supply of those in my backlog, but no longer. So I guess there's going to be a lot more non-Northwest content on this blog going forward, unless interesting things start happening in local retail!

A lack of local Safeways in your backlog is about as surprising as seeing an exterior image with only sedans, and non-Subaru ones at that! Maybe a VW is a bit NW-like, though Jettas are pretty common around here too and those are Jettas designed for the North American market. The Nissan Altima is certainly not a Northwest special even though they are popular, so that is unusual.
ReplyDeleteI suppose Modern is that unphotogenic that you don't have a backlog of local stores, but that's okay! We'll see what you have...hopefully something with Lifestyle or Pavilions decor if it is Safeway-related...though even Modern might be better than something Kroger!
Here is some unfortunate local Safeway news from today. I mentioned the other day that Kroger plans on closing two Houston area locations. Well, now news has come out that Randall's is closing the Tanglewood location, one of the nicer Randall's in town. That was one of the busier Randall's locations, but it seems from Albertsons' statement that the rent was raised on them and they are closing the location because of that. It is in a wealthy part of Houston so that seems entirely plausible. Still, there aren't many Randall's left in Houston, so to lose any is a big loss: https://maps.app.goo.gl/MJxkUsenwcFuS7858
DeleteHa! Of course, a sample size of 2 cars isn't going to be representative...
DeleteI don't mind Modern all that much, but when basically every store has it, it gets a little uninspiring. I had the same issue when I first started with Lifestyle, but at least that package had a lot of different variations (and partial refreshes) over its lifespan, unlike Modern.
That's too bad. That does look like a pretty nice store. I'm glad Safeway owns most of their locations around here, since otherwise we would probably be hearing the same thing about Seattle stores. As a side note, that area totally looks like Vancouver with a handful of high-rise towers spread around what's otherwise generic suburbia!
