I didn't go downstairs at all, but it's home to the enoteca along with the cooking school. I'm not sure if the enoteca is just a wine shop or if there's also a wine tasting/bar setup down there ("enoteca" can refer to either of those things in Italian)... I suppose that's another thing I'll have to check out next time I'm in Turin (which probably won't be any time soon). I have to wonder why they had the moving ramps running on the left, requiring an extra sign to point people to the correct one!
