No, not the neighborhood in San Francisco or the street in my neighborhood -- this Nob Hill is one of the various grocery brands owned by Raley's, positioned as one of their higher-end brands. And Capitola is definitely a high-end sort of place, right on the coast next to Santa Cruz, not that you can really tell that from the cars in this picture -- between the Subarus and the Toyota pickups, this scene could easily be a Safeway in western Washington!
I'm not too familiar with Raley's, but I did briefly visit a part of the country which does have Raley's during my trip this summer. Raley's is in Redding, CA and I did go there, but ultimately we stayed just north of Redding in the mountains near Mt. Shasta where neither Safeway nor Raley's exist. I did research the Redding Raley's though to see if it was anything worth visiting and the answer was clearly no. It had terrible tile-scarred concrete. The Safeways in Redding looked like normal NorCal Safeways and so they would have been my preferred option if I did shop for groceries in Redding. There were a couple of independents/smaller chains which looked better than a tile-scarred option as well. This Holiday Market might have been nice to stop at. I did drive by it, but we didn't stop in: https://maps.app.goo.gl/tm4K74BsGF7SLaHv8
ReplyDeleteI did visit a Raley's on this trip that I thought was pretty cool, though I don't think you liked it all that much! That Redding store does look pretty blah. Holiday Market looks kinda cool with those fake trees inside!
