The other side of the history signs list basic information about the town of Capitola, which just seems a bit strange. The one that's actually readable here has what's basically a tourism marketing blurb about the town, which is weird because, for one, most people at the grocery store aren't going to be tourists, and for two, anyone who's reading this sign is already in Capitola!

Ha, well, I don't know about Capitola, but the Ray's Food Place in Mt. Shasta, CA was most certainly the center of our tourism during the days we were there! Of course, it probably helped that the Ray's was basically in the parking lot of our hotel and that we were visiting places where packing a picnic lunch was essentially required.
ReplyDeleteFWIW, the Mt. Shasta Ray's was most certainly the kind of small town supermarket where the shoppers chat with each other in line and it did seem like most of the other people there were locals. They were all quite nice to us even though we admitted to being tourists from Texas. I suspect such interactions wouldn't have been your cup of tea though, lol.
Ha! I mean, I spend a lot of time in grocery stores when I'm traveling too, but on the whole I still wouldn't really consider them to be a touristy thing...
DeleteI'm pretty good at avoiding conversation with random people like that! 🙂
