F.G.Meyer

The food side of the store had hardly seen any impacts from the impending closure when I visited, around a month before the store was supposed to close. Even the service departments were still in full swing! I wasn't sure what to expect at these Fred Meyer closings -- Kroger closings are normally low-key, and that was true of the grocery part of the store, but definitely not for the whole store, as we'll see soon enough!

I once visited a klosing Kroger one night in Houston in 2018. I actually didn't even know the store was closing, it was a store I didn't go to often, but it was on the way back from work one night when I took a different route home. When I got in the store, I noticed the entire store was operating only on emergency lights only! It was a very strange thing, I wondered if the store was even still open, but it was. I'm sure that isn't a common thing for Kroger klosing sales, but that is the one experience I remember!

    1. That is bizarre! I've only ever seen that sort of thing when there's a big power outage going on.
