A section of the canopy was removed and this more elaborate facade was installed in the 2010s remodel, providing an entrance to the short-lived Paseo Panorama space (which I've been unable to find any information on due to the generic name). Considering the branding, I'm guessing it was something more than just a hallway connecting to the main mall corridor, but who knows! I'm surprised that the mall owners went to the effort of building this fancy new entrance for it, only to close off the connection to the mall just a few years later, directing customers to a rather hidden entrance next to Walmart which had been there all along.
Update: After waiting way too long for the Internet Archive to load, I was able to pull up an old mall map that seems to show that the Paseo was a hallway lined with a ton of tiny kiosk spaces. No idea why they decided to shut that down so quickly.
