I'd pick ice cream over jewelry any day

One oddity of this mall that's difficult to tell from this rushed set: The main corridor only has side hallways on one side, leading to the parking lot. The east side of the mall is right up against Van Nuys Blvd, and while the circa-2010 remodel added a corridor leading up to it, branded "Paseo Panorama", it was shut down after a few years. Originally, that eastern part was the whole mall, which seems to have been more of a strip mall; the mall corridor and western row of shops were only added in the late 70s. I guess when that happened, the mall's owners didn't feel the need to carve new corridors through the existing building to create a more typical mall layout (since this is the LA area, and it's a pretty safe assumption -- especially back then -- that everyone's going to drive to the mall).
