I'm not sure if this is a thing everywhere, or if it's just a Seattle thing thanks to tons of new airlines starting service here in recent years (on top of the escalating Alaska-Delta turf war), but holy cow is there a lot of airline advertising around here these days! And my favorite ones are probably the Condor ads, playing off their famous (or infamous, depending on who you ask) stripey livery and brand identity. And as soon as I saw these on the light rail a couple months back, I knew I had the perfect intro picture for the vacation I'm starting on tomorrow! This one will be a bit different for me, since I'm going with my parents (for one of their birthdays), and instead of the vaguely crazy itineraries I tend to prefer, we're doing a very simple nonstop flight from Vancouver (where flights are almost always cheaper) to Frankfurt, where we'll then go on a big loop by train. We're heading to all sorts of places and countries none of us have been before, plus some time where I just was earlier this year. It's all very exciting, but I'm not entirely sure how much I'm going to end up posting here, both because it's a bit harder to take pictures of everything when I'm not traveling alone and because of how much of a mess my attempt at travel-blogging was earlier this year. Anyway, I'll see you all back here in just over two weeks!

ReplyDeleteEnjoy your vacation, I look forward to hearing about it when you get back!
ReplyDeleteAround here in Houston, there are very few airline advertisements outside of United, Southwest, and some Latin American airlines. Every so often, KLM will engage in a marketing campaign here, but they can go a few years in between those. I'm not sure if Lufthansa has ever had a major local marketing campaign here even with them sending 747s and A380s here. I suppose the United connection might be enough for them to be able to sell tickets.
I suspect some of the Asian airlines, like EVA, might run ads in certain targeted parts of Houston, but I don't hear much about them around the parts of town I'm in most often.
