Welcome to the Panorama City Montgomery Ward!

I bet that's not a headline you were expecting to see! No, this is not going to turn into an urbex blog (I have zero interest in going into abandoned buildings), but sometimes it's fun to do something a little different! The bulk of this set is going to be about the not-abandoned Panorama Mall, whose parking lot I took this picture from, but let's start out with the fun part.

And especially since this marks my 8th "retail anniversary"! I can't believe I've been doing this for 8 years now -- that goes way back beyond what I can remember, so it feels like I've been doing this forever. Back when I started, I wasn't sure how long I could keep this up without losing interest, and to be honest, that point has kind of come and gone. But I've still got 3 years of content in the backlog, and maybe someday I'll have a bit more. I knew from the start that I would eventually run out of interesting places to visit locally, and my travel interests have shifted away from retail content, so there isn't that much happening.

That being said, the reason I chose this set to run right now is I've got another trip coming up in just over a month, and I needed to find something that was the right length. That means there will be more fun travel stuff coming soon(ish)! As has become the norm, there probably won't be much in the way of retail content, but there should still be some cool stuff.

From Sears to Montgomery Ward! Now that is a good transition, certainly better than anything involving Kroger, lol. This is (well, was) a famous dead retail building in the retail enthusiast world so I'm glad you were able to see it...not that there's much to see really.

Happy anniversary! I know what you mean about the lack of interest in retail. I hit that point quite a while ago! Certainly going on vacation recently in your part of the world was exciting, both for retail and non-retail purposes. I probably should have made a guest blog post about it, but I have not been bothered to do that yet and it may never happen, lol. At least you know what I saw.

Hopefully your upcoming trip will be as enjoyable as mine was, though surely you'll not see a Proto Lifestyle Safeway on your trip so that might be one advantage in favor of mine, lol.

    1. Yeah, this was a cool stop! There wasn't much to see at the Montgomery Ward itself, but the mall across the street was worth a visit too (including the funky ex-department store Walmart).

I do have some interesting retail stuff that I'm looking forward to on my next trip, but I don't think there will be Safeways of any type involved! 🙂

If you do want to do another guest post, I can probably fit it in before or during my vacation next month.
