Welcome to the Coronado Vons!

This store was built in the early 60s, and has been expanded and remodeled over the years, most recently circa 2022. It may not look like much from this angle, but that's because this is essentially the back -- unusually for a store from this era, the main facade opens to the street on the other side of the store, with the parking lot around back.

Coronado is on a little peninsula just south of San Diego, making this the southernmost Safeway I've photographed. It's definitely not the southernmost Safeway I've ever shopped at, though -- Hawaii wins that one! I wouldn't mind revisiting some of those Hawaii Safeways, but Hawaii is just too hot for me. I went there twice as a kid and didn't appreciate it all that much, and to be honest, I think my tolerance for heat has only gotten worse since then.
