Some of the endcaps are decorated with black-and-white local flair images, but these are not the typical historic images that lots of stores use -- this picture is no older than 2017, when a signal was built at 2nd and Vine, and I suspect it was taken specifically for this use shortly before the store opened in 2019. This seems like a strange choice of photo subject too, just a light post with a few traffic signs on it! On another note, I do quite like this store's flooring -- I know a lot people hate this sort of faux-wood laminate, but it still beats exposed concrete or plain vinyl, which are basically the two options most stores use these days.

Believe it or not, CVS has opened a few new stores in the Houston area over the last few years and I think there are more planned. I believe these new stores have carpet! Now, whether carpet or fake wood is better is certainly subjective and might be dependent on how well both are maintained. I don't think the fake wood here looks bad though. It isn't really cheap looking, at least from what I can tell from the photo, like Kroger fake wood. Even then, Kroger fake wood vinyl floors are way better than Krotesque tile scarred concrete!
ReplyDeleteYeah, carpet is definitely a CVS thing. I'm surprised they're still using it in new stores though!
