And to wrap up my one and only Bartell tour, here's another look at the corner of the building, with all the Bartell's signs on full display. This was a very nice store, briefly, until the doomed-from-the-start Rite Aid deal happened. I also really like this picture -- the lighting at sunset (nearly 6PM on this fall evening -- very different from the 9:30 sunsets at this time of the year!) looks really nice here. (And I managed to stand somewhere that my shadow isn't visible, so I didn't have to decide whether to blur it out or not!)
As for why this is the only Bartell on this blog, well, I've never much liked photographing drug stores -- they're small, they tend to have lots of staff and fewer customers compared to grocery or big box stores, and of course there's the medical privacy aspect that just makes it feel weird. And even pre-COVID, a lot of Bartell stores had security officers, which is something I never like; that only got ramped up in the post-COVID era when security became a common sight in stores of all kinds, in urban and even suburban areas. (That directly coincides with my retail photography activity going way down.) At this point, I don't think there are even any particularly interesting Bartell stores left (there are a few I wish I had visited, but they all closed even before the big closure waves), so I have very little interest in visiting any of the remaining ones.
Anyway, that's it for this set -- I'll be back with something new (it's going to have to be something Safeway) next weekend!
