Having light fixtures and ceiling fans tucked into the same aisle as faucets and other highly-reflective bathroom fixtures is certainly an interesting choice! This scene is somewhere between Home Depot and an OK Go music video! I don't believe Sears ever sold products like this, making this one of the places where Canadian Tire breaks out of the "Sears minus clothing" mold (along with the garden center, of course).
Sears most certainly sold faucets and also ceiling fans and lights at one time. They didn't have as many faucets as what we see here, but they did have a lot of lights and fans. We bought faucets and fans from Sears over the years, and also from Sears' dedicated hardware stores. Two faucets I have actually came from Sears' The Great Indoors stores, though those were a bit different from their normal stores.
ReplyDeleteMike has a clip from the 1983 made-for-TV movie 'Adam', which is based on a real story that happened in Florida. The movie was filmed at the former Westwood Mall in Houston and shows several departments, including lighting, and also some other departments which eventually were closed like the garden center. I shopped at this store a few times so it is strange seeing it in a movie, especially one where the events really happened in Florida! Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mjjcl1tSTNY
I should have known! Sears really did sell everything, at one time or another.
