For the first time since the Lifestyle era, this decor brings back a ceiling fixture over produce, something I always like to see since larger produce departments can look kind of empty without some sort of something there. This one's a little plain and definitely not as nice as Lifestyle's X-lights, but it makes up for a lot of that with the interesting multicolored pattern on the inside vertical surfaces. I think it would look a lot better in a store with an open ceiling -- it looks a little silly here with even a high drop ceiling -- but I know some of you have very different opinions on open ceilings!
This is my first time seeing this decor package. In fact, I didn't even know it existed. I'm not even sure what it is called! Anyway, it looks pretty good, and it certainly helps that this location has a proper ceiling, even with the mismatched ceiling tiles, and proper floor cover. It certainly looks better than anything Kroger has done and it looks better than Modern, at least from this angle. Of course, I'm not even sure if this decor package would even work at stores with short fascias like we have at my local Randall's and many other Randall's. Some sort of reduced height version of this might well look terrible. So, with that, I reckon that Randall's might stick with Colorful Lifestyle v2...not that I'm complaining even if this is promising so far!
ReplyDeleteAs far as I know, no one's quite sure what it's called yet! It has been documented in three stores so far, this one plus one in Oregon and one in California, but I'm not aware of anything beyond those three.
DeleteThis is definitely nicer than Modern, but one of my favorite things about Modern is how well it works in oddball stores, especially smaller ones and ones with low ceilings. I agree that this decor probably won't work well in those stores, similar to Lifestyle v2 and Ultra-Premium, and it's entirely possible the Seattle Division will skip over it as a result.
