Back to the block

I sure took a lot of pictures in this part of the store! I just really like how everything looks back here, plus I was getting annoyed with the columns and such always getting in the way of my photos. The butcher block is particularly nice, with faux stone tile on the walls and those modern square glass cases. I got some chicken from the butcher block last week, and instead of just wrapping it in plastic/paper like they normally do, they actually put it on a tray and ran it through the shrinkwrap machine in the back, making it look like what you would buy in the self-service cases -- I've never had anything like that at any other grocery store, and it was pretty neat! Seems like Safeway is really trying (if not entirely succeeding) to make this a high-end place to shop.
