It's about time to wrap up 2024, and I haven't posted a London Drugs store all year despite them being one of my (and I think many of your) favorites... so let's do something about that! This store, out at the south end of the Expo Line, seems to have been built in the 80s or 90s and seen basically no work since then (at least as of my 2022 visit -- I haven't found any recent pictures, but most of London Drugs' older stores have sadly been remodeled in the past few years), just like most of their stores I've photographed. (I was hoping to visit some more on this past trip, but I couldn't find any that I hadn't already visited that still have their cool vintage decor in place, so that didn't end up happening.)
This store is giving off some Eckerd vibes, though I'm almost certain this would be quite a bit bigger than an Eckerd. I'm sure you're not very familiar with Eckerd, though I'm guessing a lot of the rest of us are familiar with them even if some of the others are probably too young to have shopped there in either Texas or Florida at least. Certainly I am old enough to remember them well!
ReplyDeleteThat early 1990s Toyota Tercel is certainly fitting in with this store! It has been a long time since I've seen one of those, but I did see a mid-1990s Tercel the other day that was in very good condition. I was shocked to see one at all, much less in that type of good condition! Those types of simple cars probably had greater appreciation in Canada than they did in the US by the mid-1990s though so they weren't that common. We actually had one as a rental car which we took to the grand opening of the Houston Incredible Universe so I do have a retail memory tied to those mid-1990s Tercels!
Yep, I've never visited an Eckerd, not even a repurposed one. I don't think I've even ever visited any part of the country that ever had Eckerd!
DeleteThere are a few Tercels in my neighborhood -- one 90s-era and one 80s wagon! Both of them only showed up in the past year too. They weren't ever common cars around here, so it's surprising to see them now!
