The JCPenney space has a somewhat awkward connection to the mall, hanging off the side of the corridor rather than sitting at the end of a corridor like I'm used to seeing. It makes somewhat more sense now that the mall has been expanded in that direction (there's a second mall entrance off the new corridor, which we'll see later), but the store feels really tacked-on in the context of the original mall, even though it's been here all along! They even added a second sign above the mall exit for better visibility (sharing the wall space with the tenants of the added-on anchor space to the left). Unlike the other anchor spaces, I'm pretty sure JCPenney's mall facade is completely original, with a brutalist look that fits the exterior design of the store.
