The back wall almost looks like something out of a Grocery Palace with all of these alcoves and bump-outs! But this is a 2010s Walmart, so everything just looks cheap, with walls that don't go all the way to the ceiling and hardly any decor.
Ha, as nonplussed as I am about the notched rear walls at Grocery Palaces (let's just say that I'm quite pleased that the Randalbertsons smoothed out the back wall!) the Grocery Palaces look a whole lot better than this! Not only that, but this looks like a tight squeeze with the column and all. I know this probably has more room than some of the Safeway rear actionways you've posted before, but still!
The Grocery Palace back walls really only look good with Grocery Palace decor, not any of the plainer newer packages most of those stores have ended up with. And Walmart decor is even plainer than that, and this design lacks any of the intentional thinking that went into Grocery Palace, so it's no surprise this doesn't look all that great!
