The pharmacy itself is quite large too, and it was open despite it being Canadian Thanksgiving. I really like the mint green color Save-On used -- it's similar to "medical teal" as I mentioned earlier, but much nicer. I could totally paint my living room that color! (In fact, my childhood bedroom is a similar, though less muted, color -- I guess my tastes in color haven't really changed since I was 3!)
Ha, while I like medium and darker shades of teal, I've never quite liked rooms colored in what I suppose I could call seafoam green. Back when I was in school, and college even, a lot of school rooms, and even school bus interiors, were painted in a seafoam green color. I think that goes back to probably the 1950s-1960s when that color was associated with psychology research linking it to qualities such as concentration, awareness, and calmness, . I know the Douglas DC-9 and a number of Soviet commercial jet airliners had cockpits painted that color and I'm sure it was linked to the same research that led to school classrooms being painted that color.
ReplyDeleteHere's a website describing why that color was used often in the mid-20th century including in health facilities: https://www.colorwithleo.com/why-was-seafoam-green-so-popular/
Anyway, that color looked quite dated to me at the time I was in school, and especially when I was in college where we had one room in particular with that color that I can recall, so I don't really associate that color, at least when an entire room is painted in it, in a positive way! I don't really have a problem with it being used as an accent color like what is the case here or at Safeways which use this as their pharmacy color.
Interesting, I much prefer this over darker teal colors! I knew this sort of color was very popular in medical settings, but I didn't realize there was some sort of (vaguely) scientific research behind that.
