There are a few places around this store with line drawings that look like they could have been faux neon, but aren't, such as the cow above the milk case. I wonder if early concepts for this decor had a lot more neon elements than made it into the final product. If so, they probably made the right decision since too much neon might start looking tacky, though it would have been cool if there was at least something on this side of the store!
From the thumbnail, it almost looked like that far wall has blue 'neon' on it! Obviously, such is not the case, but this is one way to use grey and not have it look completely boring the way Publix nEvergreen looks!
ReplyDeleteThe cow line drawing is certainly a bit bizarre. At Hispanic supermarkets, it is not uncommon for them to put images of cows and other animals in the meat department! I guess that could be quite confusing at a store like this, but I'm guessing that won't be a big problem at this specific store at least.
At least there is some color here, but sadly they only used white neon. It would have been cool if they had put in at least some colored neon accents!
DeleteI've seen this sort of thing in both dairy and meat departments at various stores. I can't imagine it would be that confusing since it's not a particularly common sight for either department, at least around here. You don't really see Hispanic grocery stores around Vancouver anyway -- it's Asian stores that that area is full of!
