Porch and sunroom

Even the old Kmart/Little Caesar's solarium is still there, just covered up on the inside. The one thing I'm not sure about the originality of is the fake stone running along the bottom of the building -- this definitely predates Walmart, but I haven't seen this sort of thing at Kmart before (and style-wise, it looks like something the RV dealership might have installed; however, considering how little they did otherwise, that seems unlikely).

  1. I have a hard time believing Kmart would have installed those stones, but I guess it was possible if it had to fit some kind of design theme that the area has/had. I suppose the same could be said about Walmart, but it seems slightly more likely to me that Walmart would have put those in than Kmart.

The solarium was not likely to be the Little Caesar's Pizza Station. This store probably had a Pizza Station, but maybe elsewhere in the store. Some Super Kmarts had food courts and some even had full restaurants behind those solarium! The last Super Kmart I visited, which is also the last Kmart I ever visited, in Moon Township (Pittsburgh), PA actually had the full restaurant. Here is a blog post someone made about that Moon Township Super Kmart which shows inside photos from the restaurant. If you want a good laugh, read the Anonymous user comment from June 7, 2013. That is an Anonymous in Houston comment! Link: https://www.kmartworld.com/2013/01/spotlight-super-kmart-center-moon.html

    1. It's really hard to say. There doesn't seem to be any obvious design requirements around here (this store is off on its own, not part of a shopping center, unlike the former Walmart across the street). It can't have been Walmart since the stone was already there in the Camp America days, so that leaves them and Kmart as the only options.

Interesting -- I had always thought the restaurant and Little Caesar's were the same thing! I didn't realize Super Kmarts had full restaurants rather than the Cafe/Little Caesar's setup -- that goes to show how little I know about these stores.
