Not time to leave yet

Continuing across the main actionway, the former Lands End area was looking especially bare, home to a seemingly random collection of clothes (the hanging signs imply this was the clearance area, which would be a strangely prominent place for it if so, but the shelf tags don't seem to match). There's even still some labelscar visible from Land's End, but at least the newer Simply Styled banner matches the wall color nicely.

That display in the center is rather close to the (in)famous Winn-Dixie Marketplace color scheme...

Even towards the end of Sears' time here in Houston, they still sold some pretty good quality clothing such as Arrow shirts, Haggar slacks, Dockers, Levi's, Lee Jeans, and such. During Sears' last Christmas here at Willowbrook Mall in 2019, I took advantage of their buy $100 and get $100 off future purchases promotion. That, combined with some of the massive markdowns they had at the time, meant I got a lot of good quality (by 2019 standards at least, it wouldn't even come close to 1989's standards or even 1999's!). The fact that my local Sears announced their closure in February 2020 meant that I didn't have a lot of time to use that $100 in credit I got back on that promotion (the store closed way earlier than it was planning on doing so due to the pandemic).

Anyway, while Sears had some good quality clothing, the Simply Styled stuff most certainly wasn't that! That was purely Kmart-grade clothing. Putting that crud in an old Land's End department is really sad!

At least the clothing has bright colors even if they are Golden Girls Winn-Dixie Marketplace colors, lol. I wore a teal polo shirt not unlike the color there on the rack! I wonder if anyone thought I looked like a Winn-Dixie! Probably not, I don't think many Houstonians have Winn-Dixie on their minds, lol. If anything, they probably thought I looked like the default desktop background color on Windows 95! Although you might think that shirt is from 1995, it is an early 2010s product from Dillard's! Dillard's has never been known for being on top of fashion trends though, lol.

    1. Yeah, the days of Sears having quality clothing are long gone. Well, they probably still have some name-brand products, but just random stuff that they got as closeouts or had laying around for years! I don't know if they even have their own brands like Simply Styled any longer -- it seems like most of what they sell these days is super generic.

I actually have a shirt that's pretty similar to that teal color too! And it's even a Land's End shirt, to really bring this full circle.
