A return trip to the Battle Ground Albertsons

It's not often that I return to a store that I've already covered when nothing much has changed, but if any store deserves a revisit, it's this one! I won't bother going into the history of this store since I've already done that, and hardly anything changed in the four years between my visits.

  1. This store (and the Battle Ground Safeway) was on the divestiture list for the pending merger, but I went in there very recently and it's still the same. I can't help but feel this store in its current state doesn't have much longer; I'll be really surprised if this place isn't re-bannered and/or remodeled out of Grocery Palace in the next couple years.

For now, it's still just an awesome, well-preserved, frozen-in-time piece of retail history.

It seems very rare for a store around here with a decor package this old to still be unchanged all this time later; Safeway's Proto-Lifestyle is basically extinct at this point.

    1. I'm really not sure why this store is still hanging around with a Safeway so close by! The Safeway seems to still have Lifestyle v2, making it a bit behind the times too. The southwest corner of Washington is a weird market for Safeway, with most of the stores being run by the Portland Division (which is a lot slower with remodels than the Seattle Division) -- unless things have changed recently, there are still a few Proto-Lifestyle stores in the Vancouver, WA area too.
