It's a bad idea to put washing machines in a carpeted room

Previously, the upstairs mall entrance led right into the mattress department, but by this visit, appliances had taken over the space. (You can see what's left of the mattress department in the background -- I guess that was one of the first departments to be cut in this phase of Sears' downward spiral.) Sears made absolutely no modifications to the space as part of the move -- the carpeted floors are just the beginning of the strangeness.
