The lack of actionway displays really stood out in that last view, while the shoe department looks rather sad from this angle. Even the Find-It Center on the right couldn't help -- it had been shut down, probably since Sears hardly sells anything on their website any longer, instead featuring third-party sellers that seem more on par with Ebay sellers than the companies you'd find on Amazon Marketplace. (Even the stock photos on their website haven't been updated in years -- the electronics box features the computer I'm typing this on, a 2019-model MacBook.)
2019 might be ancient by Apple's forced obsolescence strategy, but that's hardly anything to me! I'm typing this comment on a Core2 Duo desktop from 2006 and running a modern Linux distro! Certainly my computer is hanging in there better than this Sears!
ReplyDeleteI was as surprised as anyone, but I almost ordered a water heater from Sears' website last year! It would have been directly from Sears and not a 3rd party. It seems that GE/Haier has started to make water heaters again and they are actual GE/Haier products made in the US rather than them slapping the GE name on another company's water heater as GE had been doing before they were sold to Haier and maybe for a little while afterward. The GE seemed to be built more solidly than the crud sold at Lowe's and Home Depot and unlike most of what Lowe's/Home Depot sells, the GEs are sold by their true capacity rather than selling, as an example, a 45 gal. water heater as a 50 gal. water heater. Yep, they actually do that! But, anyway, the GE's dimensions were a bit marginal to fit under my water connections so I decided to get a true capacity Rheem instead. Maybe that was for the better, I'm not sure if I really trust Sears these days with such a large purchase!
I'd probably still be using my 2015 Macbook if it didn't have battery issues! I just bought this 2019 model last year as a cheap refurbished unit, and I'm planning on keeping it as long as it lasts -- my goal had been to keep my previous one for 10 years, but that didn't work out (I had already replaced the battery once and didn't feel like dealing with that again). Still, retailers have just as much incentive to sell you the fanciest newest model as manufacturers do, so it's weird to see them promoting something from years past!
DeleteWow, I didn't realize Sears still sold stuff like that online! Like you said, I'd be a little hesitant to spend that much money with them!
