Wood and concrete

Even more strangely, this building has almost entirely concrete flooring, except for some woodgrain accents. That's very unusual for a Lifestyle store, even at Vons (which is one of Safeway's lower-end brands). I can excuse the open ceiling (also very rare at Lifestyle-built stores) as being a special thing at this odd store, but the flooring thing is just weird. The concrete does look pretty nice as far as concrete floors go, but it's definitely not as nice as the beige vinyl Lifestyle-built stores normally got!

Huh, that is strange. Some Krogers here do have combination fake wood floors in produce and then concrete elsewhere. This is even stranger than that! I suppose with part of this store being outdoors and obviously having concrete floors there, the concrete floors are perhaps a bit consistent. Still, I think the typical beige vinyl tiles would have looked better in the indoor parts. Oh well, given the history of these buildings and given that the concrete is better than what we usually see at stores with concrete floors, I'll give Safeway a bit of a pass here!

What might be less excusable is that dirty patch on the wall to the left of the 'poetry in bloom' sign!

    1. Sadly, dirty/patchy walls like that are something I've gotten used to from Safeway! Most of the Lifestyle stores around here were pretty messy before the Modern remodels came through. Those remodels fixed the walls, but left the floors and ceilings looking pretty rough despite still using vinyl flooring!
