Here's a closer look at that row of self-checkouts I mentioned earlier. As with basically every time I've ever been to a store with a set of self checkouts separate from the main front end area, though the rolling chair at the employee station seems to indicate that they do at least sometimes get used.
Nothing says 'fresh from the fields' quite like a row of cash registers! I can't say I've ever seen the self-checkout attendants ever get a chair like that. Maybe it is common in Europe, but I wouldn't expect to see it at a Safeway here! Then again, maybe these self-checkouts don't get used very often even when they are used so maybe there is plenty of time for sitting.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure how common it is, but I know I've seen self checkout desks with chairs in the past! Maybe they are a thing of the past these days -- it seems like customer service people of all types rarely get chairs these days.
