Farewell for now

And with one more 2018 photo that probably should have stayed in the trash bin, it's time to take a break from Southcenter once again. Incidentally, this set turned out to be exactly 100 photos, without me even really trying! Anyway, back to something else tomorrow, and then we'll be back to Southcenter in a little while.

It is certainly very strange seeing columns like this sitting right in front of the mall entrance to what was surely the mall's marquee store when it was new.

While not exactly the same, the shape of those arches reminds me a bit of the exterior wall design used at the JCPenneys at the Almeda and Northwest twin malls in Houston which opened in 1968. Both buildings are empty now and Northwest Mall is completely closed. Here is the NW Mall Penney's building: https://maps.app.goo.gl/PEfFnwFTJAHpAajQA

    1. I suspect that when the Bon Marche did their major remodel here, they annexed part of the center court -- note how the skylights also extend above the store's ceiling. It is pretty strange, and I wonder if the Bon Marche's parent company still owned the mall at the time of the store's remodel.
