The window out the other side gives a nice view out over the station, though unfortunately it seems that there weren't any trains in when I took the picture (at least not in the section that's visible here -- Italian train stations often have platforms that are far longer than their typical trains). In the foreground, the section of roof with arched plastic skylights is the canopy over the platform that would have been used for the special airport trains -- the platform is still in use, but the dedicated overpass that connected it to the two station buildings (bypassing all of the other platforms) has been abandoned for decades. It appears that the area where the refrigeration/HVAC units are is a canopy for a disused platform that would have been directly accessible from this building (serving the same track as the near side of the island platform). Off in the background are some of those stone pine trees that are a distinctive part of the way Italy looks.
