Please and thank you

I have to imagine that pretty much the only thing that has changed with this entryway since the building was built is the addition of the accessible entrance sign! Those doors scream 1960s. Perhaps there would have once been a Bon Marche sign on the silver panel above the doors (which, thankfully, isn't as reflective as the annoying glass on those doors!). There are sure a lot of signs on the doors, ranging from the COVID-related to the oddly passive-aggressive.

Ha, if you think those doors look ancient, you should see the door handles Macy's left behind at the former Northwest Mall Foley's/Macy's. Yes, those are original ~1968 Foley's door handles with the old Foley's logo on them! To be fair, Macy's did close that location after Hurricane Ike damaged it in September 2008, about two years after Macy's changed the name from Foley's, so maybe Macy's just didn't have a chance to change the door handles there. Then again, given what little Macy's has done at other locations, I wouldn't be surprised if those door handles would still be there if the Macy's never closed! Speaking of storm damage, my apologies for being missing in action for a while! As you might have heard, parts of Houston have been hit hard by a very strong storm which had 80-100 mph winds on Thursday. Unfortunately, that has caused quite a mess in my area, which I'm still dealing with, but at least I can catch up with the blogs now.

    1. Ha! With how worn out these handles are, I wouldn't be surprised if they were original too!

Yeah, I heard about those storms. Hopefully things aren't too bad now!

Not having power in 90 degree and sunny weather is certainly not fun! Unfortunately, I may not get power again until Monday-Wednesday. The power company said they hope to have everything up by the end of Wednesday.
