Somewhere nearby (I'm terrible at remembering layouts of department stores) is the Men's Active department, which I probably only took a picture of because of the airplane picture in the fitting room lobby. (I'm a bad avgeek in that I can hardly ever recognize airplane types by sight, apart from the really obvious ones, but hopefully it's a Boeing considering this store's proximity to their historic headquarters!) This part of the store is a bit bland, but it's certainly nicer than the lower level, especially when it comes to the flooring (the carpet, in particular, is a big improvement over the worn-out stuff in the Backstage section).
Ha, you were just on one of those planes a couple of months ago! That is a Boeing 787 given the pug-shaped nose, which the Airbus A350 also kind of has, but the A350 has very curled blended winglets as compared to the 787 raked wingtips like what is in the decor photo (though the never-built 787-3 was going to have winglets rather than raked wingtips).
ReplyDeleteNow, I guess you can say a 787 is a Boeing product so it would make sense at this mall, but given the whole South Carolina fiasco with the 787, maybe it doesn't make sense! Perhaps Macy's should have just used a 727 or something which wouldn't have stirred up controversy and which would have fit the datedness of this location, lol.
Ha! The A350 is a plane I can typically recognize thanks to those funky winglets, but the 787 (clearly) isn't! I'm guessing this picture has been here long enough that the 787 was still being built here at the time, but it is a little ironic that they chose the one Boeing commercial product that isn't built in the Seattle area. They probably should have chosen a Boeing narrowbody of some sort, since they're built just a few miles from this store!
