Bountiful is known for introducing the generic "Bountiful+" category markers (and various other things) that have infected practically every successive Kroger decor package, but some of the earliest stores to get Bountiful had special category markers for some departments. The frozen ones are the most well-known, but this store has special ones for the meat and dairy departments too. They're pretty nice, and the graphics here remind me a bit of Banner. (The special category markers in the wine department a few photos back are a separate, newer thing that I've seen show up in a few QFC stores over the past few years.)
Wow, awesome find! This is definitely an early store then. Pretty sure these graphics are what were used on the walls prior to the introduction of the wheat stalk stencils.
ReplyDeleteYep, 2009 is what the remodel documents say! You're right about the graphics too -- I hadn't noticed that the 2009 plans show them being installed in the meat department here, and older Google Maps photos confirm that they were there at some point, but apparently (and I was able to confirm that I didn't just magically manage to block them out in all of my pictures using newer Google Maps photos) they disappeared at some point, leaving the meat wall mostly blank. Weird!
