Here, we can see the toy department in the background, so the full-height wall on the right is probably where the escalators are -- I'm not completely sure of that, though. Is it just me, or do the "sale"/"save" signs look like something from Kmart? I get that the red goes with Craftsman's color, but the gradient-y design would fit right in with this Kmart decor.
Hey, a reference to the McAllen, TX Kmart! A fellow Texas retail enthusiast was able to visit the McAllen Kmart liquidation sale and bought some Kmart baskets from the liquidation and gifted one to me so I actually have a memento from that Kmart even though I never actually went to that Kmart! It's pretty neat!
ReplyDeleteHa, I can see what you're saying about the sale signs. They were probably designed by the same person who did the Kmart signs, but I don't think Kmart ever used those exact signs. If nothing else, they were certainly common at Sears stores.
Wow, I had no idea you had a connection to that store! I just grabbed the first Kmart picture I could find on Flickr showing that decor!
DeleteYeah, I know they were once common at Sears. I'm surprised they weren't used at Kmart too, since they would totally fit in there!
