The cramped back actionway is pretty much entirely taken up by the meat department, a common sight in 70s/80s Safeways. This is a very Safeway scene -- even the price tags are all Safeway-style in this view rather than the custom ones Haggen sometimes uses -- except for the flooring around the meat counter, which Haggen replaced with a different faux wood that looks a lot like the style used in Modern. Haggen sometimes replaced small bits of flooring or other finishes in their stores and replaced them with this style of woodgrain, though they left larger expanses in place, as we saw in the produce department.
