I stopped in at this store quite a few times growing up, during its operation as a Safeway, but the time of the Safeway-Albertsons merger was also about the same time that we stopped passing through Oak Harbor very frequently, so this visit in spring 2022 was the only time I had been back since its conversion. I had been trying to figure out how I would be able to visit this store for years, since it's the last of its kind and you never know how long it will hang on, especially with Haggen remodeling a lot of their stores in recent years, and in the end I decided I wanted to see it so much that I added an extra 2 hours each way onto my drive home from Spokane to check it out -- and yes, it was absolutely worth it!
