Past the meat service counter, the back actionway turns into this weird dark passageway lined with tall cases. There's something weirdly off-putting about this space, or at least about this photo, and the only thing stopping it from having a serious liminal-space vibe is the crowd of people.
I know that dairy departments usually aren't all that far from meat departments at supermarkets, but still, having a meat tunnel with the dairy department being the light at the end of the tunnel seems a bit strange! Also, the lighting here is quite odd! A dark meat department seems a bit Safeway Lifestyle-esque, but even then, this doesn't have the calming atmosphere of Lifestyle v1/v2!
ReplyDeleteAt least the dark parts of Lifestyle stores normally had nice lighting, not the generic office-style fixtures this store has! This is such a weird place.
