Past the pharmacy, we get into the main (women's) cosmetics section, which is by far the fanciest part of the store. On its own, the decor here isn't anything especially interesting, but it does provide a nice contrast to the excessive blandness of the rest of the store!
Back in the 1980s, Target had the neatest back to school displays of the 'big 3' discount stores we had in the post-Woolco/Globe era in this area. In fact, I don't even remember Kmarts or Wal-Mart's displays, but I do remember Target's. Of course, at least at my local Target at the time, stationary was basically where cosmetics is now and our Target had a window looking out the front of the building. Windows at discount stores like that was rare so I suppose it put a bit more of a spotlight on the stationary department. Anyway, I guess you'll just have to take my word for it that Target was kind of the back to school store as far as discount stores went.
ReplyDeleteThose green pencils look nice, but otherwise this back to school scene looks a little lackluster! Heck, 3D pencils and a lack of Krojis aside, this doesn't look much different from a Kroger back to school sale!
Interesting! I wouldn't really associate Target with fancy seasonal displays, at least not these days. By the time I started shopping there regularly, they had probably long since given up on that, and I'm sure COVID didn't help.
