The main thing that makes me suspect this was intended as the main entrance, at least by the decor designers, is the bright red Safeway wall where the drop ceiling starts. I quite like this -- it's a new thing that I haven't seen in any other Safeway! (Some other stores have red walls, but they're specifically for the Drive Up and Go section.) Still, come on Safeway, couldn't you have put those conduits on the concealed side of the soffit??
Yeah, Safeway has started to put in these red walls at the entrances of their stores which are remodeled/built here recently. It isn't just a Modern thing as I saw this myself at the Troutdale, OR Lifestyle v3 Grocery Palace Safertsons which was converted to Safeway sometime in early 2023. You can see a photo of it here: https://goo.gl/maps/BNHCGHTN7JkV9uEdA
ReplyDeleteMy guess is that Grocery Palace installation is closer to how that red wall is supposed to look than what you see here in Seattle, but I guess what they did in Seattle will work, lol. I don't know if there is a Randall's version of the red walls. If there is, I have not seen it and I didn't see anything at the Cully Albertsons either that recently got Lifestyle v3.
Interesting! I haven't seen these red walls in any other remodels around here, and I don't think I saw them on my California trip either (though I visited so many stores on that trip that they all blend together!).
