Next up is the "Utility" section, which is now home to bedding and pillows -- I'm guessing that's not what originally would have been in this department, but I'm not sure what "utility" originally consisted of. To the left is the towel area, which has decor that looks newer than everything else here, and then luggage, which I'm surprised I didn't look at further.
I've heard of stores having "Storage and Utility" departments before, which usually consists of tubs, bins, organizers and things like that, so "utility" was probably a reference to those products, which were either moved or eliminated for more linens.
ReplyDeleteThat makes sense! Though it does feel a little odd for a store like Macy's/the Bon Marche to be selling storage bins and such.
