Looking in

I skipped checking out the JCPenney on this visit, since their stores tend to be quite boring these days -- just look at their pathetic cardboard christmas "decorations". At least this one still had proper carpet at the time rather than the awful concrete floors they've been putting in their stores, along with tile that looks a little bit nicer than average. It also still had its Sephora section intact at the time; that's obviously gone by now. (It feels a little odd to see a JCPenney Sephora in a mall at the same time as a real Sephora!)

Ugh, JCPenney tile scar! Yes, my local JCPenney has this on their second floor. It was part of the Ron Johnson era 'renovations'. It looked terrible a decade ago when I first saw it and my opinion has not changed since! It is easily the worst flooring at my local mall. Admittedly, the powder blue carpeting they used upstairs previously probably did need to be replaced, but they had many better options than what they chose!

I believe my local Kohl's is in the middle of getting a Sephora department. I've seen a Sephora department at another Kohl's and it isn't anything exciting, but then again, why would I get excited about Sephora? Lol.

I will say that I've been to Kohl's much more frequently than JCPenney these days, but part of this is that Kohl's is close to me and there really isn't a lot drawing me to the mall these days and certainly JCPenney isn't much of a draw. I used to stop by sometimes after visiting Sears, but that's not a thing around here these days.

    1. Wow, I didn't realize JCPenney concrete floors went back that far! I only started seeing them a few years ago, but then again, I wasn't exactly visiting many JCPenneys before I started on retail photography. I don't visit Kohl's very much either -- I pretty much exclusively buy department store-type stuff online these days.
