One last deli view

I feel like I was trying to capture something specific with this picture, but I can't remember what it was -- pretty sure it wasn't the guy seemingly struggling to get a basket out of the stack! Maybe it was the hot foods bar in the background (something that was, and still is, very rare in Washington Safeways) -- I definitely remember this being here in the Safeway days, but as with the other fixture, the stainless-steel finish makes me wonder if Save-On replaced the original fixture itself.

Signature Sandwiches? Yeah, but do they have Signature Select Sandwiches?!

There is some local Safeway news to report. Do you remember those C-store-like 'Thank You' bags that Randall's/Tom Thumb/Albertsons has been using in Texas? Well, those are gone now. They've been replaced by paper and plastic bags basically saying "Thank you for shopping with us, Sincerely" and then it has the Randall's, Tom Thumb, and Albertsons logos down at the bottom. This is the first time that the Albertsons logo has officially been used on bags in Houston in 21 years! That's kind of neat. If nothing else, it's a major upgrade over the old bags even if it is 'Sincerely' themed. Oh well, at least it doesn't have the melon cart logo on it, but then again, neither do Kroger bags here at least!

    1. Ha!

I noticed those same bags at my local Safeway this week! Of course, here they have the Albertsons and Safeway logos instead (no Carrs, which is a little surprising since they tend to show up on multi-branded things). Safeway had been switching between various different styles of bags, including ones with just the Albertsons and Safeway logos and ones that were completely generic (I'm pretty sure they didn't even mention Albertsons in the fine print like your ones did) along with paper bags on occasion, so I'm not sure if this is actually going to be a permanent design or one that just shows up intermittently.
