This picture also attempts to show the second row of windows. In a typical Marina store, the barrel vault continues all the way to the back of the store, extending over the stock room, but here it only covers the front half of the store, meaning that part of the salesfloor is under the lower flat ceiling in the back (though I'm unsure whether that was true when the store was initially built) -- the flat roof over the stock rooms is why it was able to have windows rather than the typical wood paneling at the back of the barrel vault.
