Pineapples in bloom

Until fairly recently, most of the Canadian Safeway stores were essentially frozen in time from the early 2010s; while Sobeys has started remodeling or rebuilding some of them (as with the two I've posted so far), there are still some that are much closer to an original Lifestyle Safeway than anything I've seen in the US in quite some time.

  1. Wow, this really is a 2000s era Safeway stuck in time! If anyone accuses Safeway of dragging their feet with remodels, all one has to do is point to what Sobeys is doing as evidence to the contrary! It is neat to see a Lifestyle v1 store stuck in time like this. Lifestyle v1 might not have been the best decor package around, but it still looks nice when done correctly as it is here. Sobeys looks to be maintaining the store well and the produce looks fresh...fresher than what the real Safeway often has to be honest.

    1. Ha! I think Sobeys is in the middle of a remodel wave for their Safeways now (finally), a few years behind Albertsons/Safeway but still not too bad. This store appears to be one that they're considering for redevelopment, though, so that might also be part of why it hasn't gotten any sort of remodel!
