Boar's Head, with a blank screen

This is one of the Safeways around here that (for reasons I have never been able to determine) sells Boar's Head products in its deli, rather than Dietz & Watson. This seems to be a new thing since my 2018 visit here; in fact, I'm not sure if any local Safeways sold Boar's Head at that point. A lot of stores that sell Boar's Head also received video displays like this, but (just like all the other promotional video displays that Safeway sporadically experiments with) it seems to have been abandoned at some point.

  1. Odd. I was looking at some California Safeways and it seems some of the Pavilions-styled Safeways in Northern California sell Boar's Head like the Southern California Pavilions stores. I guess regular California Safeway stores sell Dietz & Watson, but I don't remember that for sure. I don't know if Seattle has some unofficially upscale stores which sell Boar's Head like those kind-of Pavilions in Northern California or what. It is very weird a chain to have different products like this in the same area.

    1. Yeah, it's all a mystery to me too. There are some Safeways with a relatively upscale design (and this is one of them), but I've also seen Boar's Head in some normal Safeways that don't seem to have any other upscale features. 🤷‍♂️
