I was disappointed (but not surprised) to see that Safeway ripped out the fancy Proto-Lifestyle flooring that used to be in the liquor aisle. The difference between the white vinyl in the aisle and the off-white in the actionway is surprising -- I always thought Proto-Lifestyle's flooring was plain white, but now that I see it up against something else, I guess not! Unless Safeway also replaced the actionway vinyl when they remodeled, but it would be quite strange for them to install anything other than cheap white flooring these days, outside of the produce department.
Wow, that is quite the flooring downgrade! Safeway could have done better here, but they could have done a lot worse with a Kroger special concrete floor! Actually, it isn't just a Kroger special. We've seen Safeway do it as well. At least the white tile gives the store a clean, bright look if nothing else and that couldn't be said about the old flooring in this aisle.
ReplyDeleteWe can debate which is the better option, but since most of the flooring was left in place, I imagine this is even lower effort than the complete vinyl removal of the "Kroger Special"! 🙂
