One of my favorite things about this section is the blending of traditional Salish artwork with modern elements, as with this piece, officially called "Central Hearth". The main piece is made up of vertical strings of LED lights, programmed to act like a giant display screen while leaving the central section open such that you can see through the whole thing. It's quite an interesting effect that I'm surprised I haven't seen elsewhere, and almost looks like an illuminated water feature from a distance.
