And now it's time to look at the "after" pictures from this store, hot off the presses from my visit at the start of this month! As I expected, the exterior was left pretty much untouched in the remodel, since it already had signs with the current logo.
Let me know if you have any issues seeing the pictures in the rest of this series. This is my first post from my new phone, and since its camera takes much higher-quality photos (at least, they look nicer and the file sizes are much larger; somehow the resolution is technically the same as the old 6S, though larger than the iPod's) I'm leaving them as .HEIC files for now to save space; it appears that Blogger converts them to JPGs when uploaded, but I don't entirely trust it to not do something weird!
Everything seems to be working fine for me on Firefox in Linux! It seems your photo has an HEIC extension, but it seems to be in the JPEG format. I guess this is just an oddity of the Blogger conversion system.
ReplyDeleteI'm not exactly sure how WordPress handles HEIC photos. In fact, Mike's photos, which are taken on an iPhone, are saved on his WordPress blog as .webp files it seems. I think that is actually a Google file format so it's a bit weird that WordPress is using that and Blogger isn't, but it's possible Mike, or his phone, is uploading photos from his phone in that format. I don't know, I have never had any reason to look into it since everything works fine!
Good to hear! And good to know, too, since I'm strongly considering replacing my aging MacBook with a Linux system (probably a Framework laptop) in the next year or two, since I'm frustrated with Apple hardware and can't stand Windows.
DeleteAlthough I'm typing this on my Core2 Duo desktop (from 2006!), I did recently buy a cheap laptop from MicroCenter and put Linux on it. Everything runs great! I never even booted into Windows even though it did come with Windows 10. I put another SSD in it before I even booted it up.
DeleteOn that topic, my other laptop is a ~12 year old HP EliteBook Core i5 that is still working great. I don't know anything about Framework laptops, but HP and Dell both sell business PCs without Windows. At least with HP, it knocks about $120 off the price of the computer as well if you get it without Windows. I think HP's Windows-less computers come with FreeDOS pre-installed (which is basically saying it doesn't have an OS) and Dell's come with Ubuntu. Anyway, you could run whatever distro you want.
I don't know what your software needs are, but all I can say is that Linux is my only OS at home and it works wonderfully for me even on ancient hardware like this. I write and upload most of my HHR guest blog posts on this old relic that would be old even by supermarket standards!
Yeah, that's definitely one of the nice things about Linux that I've heard! The Framework laptop is cool in that it's designed to be easy to repair, and the lack of repairability is the main issue I have with Apple products -- I'm sure my computer (which is almost 8 years old) would be perfectly adequate years into the future, except it needs a new battery (again) and has some sort of overheating issues, and neither of those issues are easy/cheap to fix at this point (especially since Apple doesn't even want to support something from 2015 anymore).
