Glass is neat

Apparently the "scales" of the sculpture are made of something called "dichroic glass", something I hadn't heard of before (though I wouldn't be surprised if I've seen it and didn't realize it), and amusingly, a quick search for that pulled up, as the first result, a manufacturer's page that has this exact sculpture as its first example of what you can do with their product. Unfortunately, I've tried to find out more about what exactly dichroic glass is, but everything I read went over my head.

  1. It seems these are supposed to be salmon, but with their heads cut off, I suppose they are just random seafood, lol. I had not heard of dichroic glass before and I'm not sure if I particularly care to see it in person. Those glass panels kind of remind me of those sunglasses lenses that were popular in the 1980s that had strange colors. I suppose those were better than the yellow-tinted sunglass craze of the late 1990s/early 2000s, but still, some of those colored glass panels look kind of strange and they seem to get an outdated look to them rather quickly.

Of course, I'm not sure if there is any better way to depict beheaded fish!

    1. I like it, at least. But I tend to be a fan of pretty much any creative use of glass. 🤷‍♂️
